Overview
For much of this journey, you’ll explore the highlands between 1,100-1,500m altitude, where the climate is cool and amid towering mountains, are cities that retain their cultural way of life. Wae Rebo village was restored to protect the local’s sustainable way of life and won a UNESCO award in 2012.
Sample itinerary
Day 1 Denpasar – Ende – Moni (L/D)
Arrival at the Airport of Ende. Our guide will pick you up at the airport and will take you directly to your hotel in Moni (2 hours). In the afternoon, trekking for 1 hours to the waterfall in Moni. Dinner and overnight at Kelimutu Moni Eco Lodge.
Day 2: Moni – Kelimutu Lakes – Bajawa (B/L/D)
In the early morning at 04.30 am the car takes you to the three colored lakes of Kelimutu, one of the most spectacular and mysterious sights in Indonesia. You will witness a beautiful sunrise. The perfect surrounding for taking impressive pictures. Thereafter you return to the hotel and have breakfast. You continue your trip to Bajawa with some stops on the way, i.e. the blue stoned beach of Nanga Panda and Soa. Dinner at Lucas Restaurant and overnight at Sanian Hotel or Villa Silverin.
Day 3: Bajawa – Ruteng (B/L/D)
In the morning at 6 am the car takes you to Ngoranale Village, start trekking for 1.5 hours to the top of Wawomudha volcano, on the way you can see coffee plantations and beautiful panorama of Bajawa city, Inerie and Ebulobo mountain. Wawomudha has not shown any significant activity for centuries. However, in the year 2,000, due to small eruptions, a red-colored lake emerged out of the mountain’s crater named Wawomudha. Thus, the new-born lake was called Wawomudha Crater Lake.
Back to the hotel for breakfast and you will visit the traditional village of Bena and the Ngada tribes, located on the slope of Mount Inerie. The trip continues via Aimere the centre of “Arak”-production, and Borong (lunch) to Ruteng. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at MBC Susteran Guesthouse in Ruteng.
Day 4: Ruteng – Denge (B/L/D)
In the early morning after breakfast you start the trip to discover the southern part of Manggarai. At first you visit Golo Cara village, the best place to take a picture of rice fields in the shape of a spiderweb. Afterwards you continue to Narang to do a soft trekking along rice fields and enjoy the beautiful landscape near Narang village. Lunch will be provided at the house of a local family in Narang. In the afternoon you will drive along the southtern costal via Iteng and Dintor to Denge (some stops are possible en route to take pictures). Dinner and overnight at Waerebo lodge in Dintor.
Day 5: Denge – Wae Rebo Village (B/L/D)
After light breakfast you will start a spectacular hike about 2.5 hours to the Wae Rebo village, with the most authentic housing of Manggaraian culture, which is located about 1100m above sea level, in the middle of mountain area. The perfect surrounding for unique pictures. You will reach the village at noon and have lunch there. In the afternoon you have the chance to get in touch with the indigenous people and experience their culture and lifestyle. Or you can enjoy and discover the great natural surrounding by going for another walk. Dinner and overnight will be at the local villager’s visitor house. Sleeping mattresses will be provided by the local host.
Day 6: Wae Rebo – Denge – Labuan Bajo (B/L/D)
After the breakfast in Wae Rebo, you hike down to Denge again. Lunch then will be provided in Denge, Thereafter you continue to Labuan Bajo where you arrive in the evening time. Some stops on the way are possible. Dinner and overnight at Puri Sari Beach Hotel.
Day 7: Labuan Bajo – Denpasar (B)
Morning free program at Hotel before transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
